In Female Worth and Elegance

The second edition of this book is published in conjunction with a new exhibit by the Portsmouth Historical Society entitled "Stitches in Time:  Portsmouth Samplers 1965-1840"  held at the John Paul Jones House.  The exhibit consists of several vignettes arranged chronologically to place these local samplers in a cultural context with related portraits, furniture, silver and ceramics associated with the makers.
